Paying it Forward part II: Soul 2 Soul (THE EXPERIENCE)

With each new issue of SOUL that I put out I always ask myself, What’s the goal this time around? It always leads me back to the same answer helping others and meeting more dope people! Here’s the continuation of SOUL (THE EXPERIENCE) Featuring Lisa & Tammy!

1.SM: How has writing for a publication like Soul Magazine enhanced your writing abilities?

LL: Writing for SOUL Magazine has allowed me to challenge myself. Because of the word limit, I am forced to be more concise with my stories, which is a great skill for a writer to have.

2. SM: What is the most nerve-racking part about submitting your work to a publication like SOUL?

LL: I can’t say there was anything nerve-racking. The process is simple and Candis makes it easy. I am a control deal so I hate waiting for the cover reveal, but that doesn’t grate my nerves. It just builds anticipation.

3. SM: What does the word SOUL mean to you?

LL: SOUL means a raw and honest depiction of the root is a person. I am a firm believer anyone can have soul, but not everyone can tap into it.

4. SM: Is a publication like SOUL necessary? If so, why?

LL: Publications like SOUL are very necessary in this society. It provides indie artists a place to express their inner thoughts and feelings in a variety of cultural issues.

5. SM: Describe your experience writing for SOUL

LL: SOUL is a place is expression and the experience has been seamless. After my initial contact with Candis, I knew what was expected of me and the declines were very clear. I would like to see more precise formatting in future issues, but that is part of the process.

6. SM: How did you hear about Submitting to SOUL?

LL: I heard about SOUL on Instagram.

SM: How has writing for a publication like Soul Magazine enhanced your writing abilities?

TT: It has given me more in-depth with my writing and to challenge myself with going in a different direction.

2. SM: What is the most nerve-racking part about submitting your work to a publication like SOUL?

TT: Trying to figure out what poems I feel are the right ones to submit.

3. SM: What does the word SOUL mean to you?

TT: Soul means to me is expressing your feelings deep within your heart. It’s like finding new meaning of life. Finding your inner peace.

4. SM: Is a publication like SOUL necessary? If so, why?

TT: I feel it’s necessary to show our work in hopes of being a voice for others and inspire those to do the same. And not be afraid of being themselves.

5.SM: Describe your experience writing for SOUL.
TT: My experience is humbling and exciting to get a chance to let others read what’s on my mind. Look into my soul.

6. SM: How did you hear about Submitting to SOUL? TT. I heard about submitting my pieces through a friend and Author, John Cratic, who is an amazing poet as well.
